Having an accountability workout partner is the KEY to finding consistency!!

Countless studies have shown that having someone to keep you accountable for completing a workout will increase your adherence, which will increase your results!  And really, there’s nothing like a group of friends that will motivate you to go after your goals!  There will always be 100 reasons to skip your workout, and the number one reason people quit on their goals is that there are no real consequences for their inaction.  But, that’s NOT the case when you have an accountability partner.  There is power in accountability because you know someone else cares about your successes too – if one of you becomes unmotivated, the other can help re-motivate you.  Guilt can be a big motivator – specifically in the context of not wanting to let your friend down if you decide to sleep in and your friend shows up.  That extra level of accountability increases your odds of success.

What about a little friendly competition??  Working out with a friend or friends can make you push yourself more than if you were doing it solo.  How many times have I heard clients say “I never would have pushed myself that hard if I had been alone working out in my basement”.  We always push harder when we are surrounded by other like-minded people.   And what about FUN – exercising should be fun and it should push you to be better and do better.  If you have someone to laugh with as you work out and to celebrate with post-workout, you’ll have more positive emotions related to exercising.

At InCycle we know that making the time to workout can sometimes be tough – statistics show that 80 percent of American adults don’t get the recommended amount of exercise.  But, we also know that one of the very best ways to increase your chances of not only meeting and exceeding that recommendation is to have a workout buddy.  That is why we always offer FIRST CLASS FREE for any new friend that you bring to class. So grab a buddy and hold yourself accountable.
